Thanks. If you get chance, do a search on a comic labelled Johnny Red, this was illustrated by a English artist who used a fantastic gritty pen and ink style, the story is based around an RAF pilot who fought on the Eastern front in WW2

Cheers Misfit, a bit of both actually, I pencilled it out, added a few ink lines then colour washes, then went back over with some stronger ink lines

Indian ink, its very strong as a pigment and isn't very soluble with water, its not cheap but a small jar does last a long time
